Reading Monad…

Who's on the clock right now

Three studios pay five freelancers on Monad testnet, around their own working hours. Every figure below is a real tab, read from the chain as you watch.

How a tab works

  1. The client opens a tab

They set an hourly rate and a budget in AUSD, Agora's digital dollar, and send you an invite link. The budget waits in Segundo's contract on Monad, where it can only go to you or back to them.

  2. You clock in

Pay builds up every second you're on the clock. Either of you can stop the clock at any moment, and the client can pause pay or close the tab.

  3. You're paid as you go

Earnings move to your wallet while you work, and you can cash out at any second. When the tab closes, the unspent budget goes straight back to the client.

Every tab is a banknote

It prints itself while the freelancer works. Each part of it tells you something; point at one to find it on the note.

When the money arrives

The same week of work, paid three ways. Segundo pays while the work happens; the others pay once, days later.

Why this needs Monad

Listening for Monad blocks…

Latest payouts on Segundo

Reading the chain…

Pay you can watch arrive

Monad makes a block about every 0.3 seconds and finalises it in about 0.6, so a payout lands while you're still looking at the screen. On a tab page Segundo pays out every few seconds as you watch.

Tabs that don't queue behind each other

Pay builds up from timestamps, so nothing is written while the clock runs, and each tab settles its own state. The one slot every payout shares is the escrow balance in AUSD, which Monad's optimistic execution re-runs when two land in a block.

One signature, no gas

You sign; Segundo's relayer submits. Deposits use an AUSD permit and transfers an AUSD transfer authorisation, so neither side ever holds MON.

Built for both sides of the tab

For freelancers

  • No more waiting. Pay lands while you work, and you can cash out at any second.
  • No chasing invoices. The budget is already in the contract before you start.
  • Your money, your currency. See every second of pay in rupees, pesos, naira or shillings.
  • Nothing to set up. Sign in with a passkey or your email; there's no wallet app and no gas.

For clients

  • Pay only for time worked. The clock runs only while the freelancer is on it, and you can pause it at once.
  • Hire anywhere. One link onboards a freelancer in any country, with no bank details to collect.
  • Unspent budget comes back. Close the tab and every cent you didn't use returns in the same block.
  • A record you can check. Every shift and payout is on Monad, with a pay stub to match.

How Segundo makes money

One fee, paid by the side that is buying the time. The side doing the work keeps every second of it.

The fee is live on testnet: it is signed in the same step as the tab and lands in a public treasury on Monad. After it come a share of the yield on budgets waiting in tabs, a margin on local cash-out, and later, advances against income the chain has already verified.

Questions people ask

Is this real money?

Not yet. Segundo runs on Monad testnet with Agora's test AUSD, which has no value. The contract and the flows are the ones that would run on mainnet.

Do I need a crypto wallet or any MON?

No. Sign in with a passkey or your email and Segundo creates a wallet for you. Every action is a signature; Segundo's relayer submits it and pays the gas.

What does it cost?

Freelancers pay nothing: every second of pay reaches you in full. Clients pay 1% on top of what they put into a tab, so a $100 budget costs them $101. The fee is signed in the same step as the tab, with no extra prompt and no gas.

How does Segundo make money?

From that 1% client fee, which is already live on testnet and lands in a public treasury you can check on Monad's explorer. Later, a share of the yield on budgets waiting in tabs and a small margin on cash-out to local banks and mobile money. The whole model, with live numbers, is on how Segundo makes money.

What if the client disappears halfway through?

You've already been paid for every second up to the last payout, which happens every few seconds while the tab is open. The rest of the budget stays in the contract and can only go to you, for time on the clock, or back to the client.

What stops a freelancer clocking in and doing nothing?

The client watches the same tab live and can pause pay at any moment; the clock stops in the same block. The most either side can lose is a few seconds.

How do I get money into my local currency?

Your pay lands as AUSD, Agora's dollar stablecoin, which you can send to any exchange or wallet with one signature. Local cash-out partners are next on the roadmap; the note already shows your pay in your currency at today's rate.

Who can move the money in a tab?

Only the contract's rules: earned pay can only go to the freelancer and unspent budget only back to the client. There is no admin key, no upgrade path and no fee switch; the 1% is a separate transfer from the client, never taken from a tab. The source is verified on Monad's explorer.
